Academic Difficulty

We recognize that these challenges sometimes prevent students from asking for the support they need in order to remain on track academically.

In such cases, students may be identified as experiencing “academic difficulty” and be recommended for an Academic Support Plan or Academic Notice. While “academic difficulty” is not a formal status reflected on a student’s record, it allows programs and the Graduate Division to direct support to students who need it, including but not limited to creating an Academic Support Plan and connecting with various campus resources. An Academic Support Plan will be recommended for students who receive one or more unsatisfactory End of Year Reviews. Students may be referred to the Disability Resource Center (DRC), Counseling and Psychology Services (CAPS), Slug Support, or various writing support resources as part of the Academic Support Plan or Academic Notice.
